I just love the work of Hanna Melin here at www.allthingsoriginal.com and we are very excited to add some of her new prints to the site. So if you love cowboys, dogs or wellington boots (or even just Hanna Melin) then you are in for a treat!
Oh and as a little bonus she has also added two new fabby brooches too!
I am really pleased to welcome the lovely Charlotte Macey to www.allthingsoriginal.com this month.
She is a fabby textile designer and i have especially fallen in love with all her beach hut inspired homewares which brings such happy memories of the seaside as a child :)
The snow and ice has finally cleared at www.allthingsoriginal.com offices and we’re feeling all the warmer after adding these gorgeous vintage flower earrings to the site from our fabulous designer Lazy Giraffe. Perhaps there is some hope for a lovely Spring after all :)
The lovely Nicki from Creamrose has recently taken a break from www.allthingsoriginal.com but is back now in time for Christmas with lots of fab new fabric covered buttons, hair pins, earrings and more. They are all very reasonably priced too making them great stocking fillers!!
Askey Illustrations is one of our latest illustrators to join the site. Here’s an insight into the life of Jo Askey, the lady behind the fabulous prints:
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am an illustrator and graphic designer. I live in Cheshire with my husband, two kids and an ancient Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Troy and a little dwarf lop bunny called Ozzy.
How long have you been running Askey Illustrations?
I started up askey illustration after I had my little boy four years ago. I came to the conclusion that as there were no jobs that
fit around a baby’s timetable that it made sense to create my own role. I haven’t looked back since.
How would you describe your style?
My style is slightly quirky, I love to combine delicate natural line drawings with solid blocks of colour – I feel that digital art
really compliments the way that I work.
What is your creative process?
My creative process varies. Sometimes inspiration hits me and I have to start working on something immediately, other times I can feel as if I have no idea what I want to create until I actually sit down and start drawing.
Five random facts about me…
1. my first job was as a Desktop publisher/typesetter.
2. I can usually tell what typeface and point size a piece of text is just by looking at it. (see above) I have a slightly geeky love of
typography.
3. I love chili peppers and have nearly perfected making super hot chili jelly which I eat with just about everything
4. I grew up in Canada
5. I’m hoping my husband buys me a Ukulele for my birthday this year!
What inspires your work?
My work tends to be inspired by my life and the little details (like how cute kid’s shoes are).
What is your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession has to be my mac.
What is your biggest achievement?
Managing to keep sane while looking after two kids and running a business!

Any exciting news coming up for Askey Illustrations?
At the moment I’m looking forward to being able to get lots more work done now that my little boy has just started school!
I am very excited to be here! My name is Cassia Beck, I am a photographer from Brighton, UK and I hope I can inspire you in some way.
I would like to introduce some new pieces I recently added to my shop on All Things Original. My signature pieces of work include seaside images and flowers. Recently I have added some prints showing everyday objects as I see them.
I take my camera with me everywhere and I have always loved to photograph the mundane, ordinary things we normally pass by without seeing. My recent captures are beautiful objects but also things we see over and over as we grow up. How many times have you seen a typewriter, a row of books or cotton reels?
I find such objects very nostalgic, they bring back happy memories from my childhood; my mother’s sewing box, with cotton reels in every colour and her tin of buttons that I used as pretend money in my “shop”. I remember a blue typewriter, no one ever used it but it was always there. Books bring comfort to me, I am from a family of avid readers and books were everywhere!
I hope these images bring back some memories for you…
